Design Engineer 

Location : Jakarta, Indonesia

 

Core Tasks:

• Design & documentation: Contribute to the design and development of efficient and safe formwork, shoring, and scaffolding applications. Ensure all designs adhere to safety standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements under the supervision of senior engineers. Develop detailed designs, create accurate material lists and prepare comprehensive shop drawings for project implementation.
• Project support: Assist in managing projects from conception to completion. Support the coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure that project timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
• Technical collaboration: Work alongside senior engineers to gain technical knowledge and experience. Participate in team meetings, share ideas, and engage in collaborative problem-solving.
• Engineering analysis: Perform basic structural analysis and calculations to validate the integrity and safety of your own designs according to PERI and local standards. Seek guidance from senior engineers as needed.
• Client interaction support: Assist in collaborating with clients to understand their needs and provide design support. Help prepare detailed design proposals and technical reports.
• Quality control: Follow established quality control procedures to ensure all designs meet required standards. Learn and apply best practices from senior engineers.
• Design communication: Discuss and explain your designs and shop drawings to site personnel or PERI Product Specialists, to ensure clear understanding and effective execution.

Responsiblities:

• Document preparation: Create accurate designs, shop drawings and material lists based on the availability of products within the existing product portfolio, ensuring designs are feasible and efficient.
• Job site support: Participate in occasional job site meetings and support Sales Engineers in conducting technical presentations to clients, providing technical expertise and assistance as needed.
• Construction drawing acquisition: Assist in acquiring necessary construction drawings from clients to ensure formwork designs are based on the latest information, minimizing the need for design revisions.
• Team collaboration: Work closely with cross-fucntional team members by communicating job expectations, assisting in planning tasks and contributing to the achievement of the project goals.
• Design improvement & optimization: Identify potential design improvements and process optimizations, utilizing existing opportunities for enhancements and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Overall conditions/Interfaces/Internal Customers/Suppliers :

• Engineering Team Members: Collaborate with members of the Engineering group to support the achievement of project goals. Contribute to maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency through teamwork and communication.
• Internal support functions: Work with and support internal support functions such as the Strategic Business Development team, Technical Support Office (TSO), and the Engineering Competence Center (ECC) to align engineering tasks with organizational objectives and strategic initiatives.
• Internal customers: Assist in interfacing with internal stakeholders, including the General Manager, Project Managers, Product Specialists, Sales Engineers, Operations teams, and the Head of Engineering, to help meet project requirements and customer expectations.

Professional, methodical and social competences:

• Diploma or Degree in Civil, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in construction. Working experience in formwork industry is preferred
• AutoCAD (or similar) operating skills / experience is essential
• Fluent English both oral and written, Bahasa Indonesia (preferably)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Very good organizational skills
• Basic MS Office knowledge (Excel, Teams, Word, Powerpoint)
